Beth & James Green | Historic Sand Rock Farm |Aptos | I Am the Luckiest

Dearest Beth and James,

Your dream has come true – 6 years ago, it was you, James, whom Beth chose to dance with, at this beautiful event with all the people who loved both of you. You had to play “hard to get” in order to get this most amazing woman. During Thanksgiving of 2009, among all the things that people were thankful for, Beth had the most amazing one – her boyfriend whom she was deeply in love with, finally proposed…

And Beth, you are one of the simplest, humblest, purest and most loving women I have seen. You shared every bit of yourself and gave every bit of love you have to your beloved… when you said with much pride: “I, am the luckiest one who married James!” on your wedding day, your beautiful face lit up and the whole world could not help but falling in love with you too, including me… You both have worked so hard to be together and it was that special day, when you finally danced as husband and wife – for the first time. May you both keep dancing together, for a long lifetime …

xoxoxo…

Monique & Raymond |wedding at Bridges Golf Club

Beautiful Monique,

Seven years ago this day, you and Raymond chose to give your hearts to each other… how would you have known what a wonderful decision that would turn out to be? You have been Raymond’s first and last girlfriend, until he proudly called you “my beautiful wife”… In many sense, I truly think you both are the luckiest in the world. There’s no greater gift in the world than sharing a life together, and now you gave this gift to each other. What a privilege to be the first, last and the only one for a life time…

I have seen you cried – when you and Raymond came to meet with me for the first time, one of my photo albums reminded you of the vows you have taken – your cried; when I photographed your engagement session, we relived the nostalgic moment at the City Hall, you cried; on your wedding day at the Bridges, you cried… there’s no greater evidence of love for one to see, so precious, so crystal clear, so beautiful.

Best wishes to both of you,

xoxo, Jasmine

My favorite new albums…

Dear friends,

Today I want to share with you some of my favorite new albums. When DHL delivered them this morning I could hardly wait to see… each time I saw a new album I made for our beautiful couples – I feel soooo excited and anxious to see how my bride and groom will like them. As I have left so much of heart and thoughts into them, I hope you all like what you see…

Bridget and Doug | Wedding at Cavallo Point | Fort Baker

Dear Bridget and Doug,

I have to say that I did feel much of pressure photographing your wedding… a young artist bride as you with a background in film and video and work for the National Geographic Channel …oh my, you must have had very high expectations. Knowing that you loved the photographs I have captured for you, you can’t imagine how much I feel relieved!

This is another Cavallo point wedding I have photographed. You had your reception at the hall with Gregory Colbert’s large format “Ashes and Snow” series… I have always in love with his work and was honored to spend such artistic night with such artistic people. Thanks again for sharing with me for a beautiful night, and best wishes to both of you!

Heidi & Brian |wedding at Marine Memorial Hotel San Francisco, Union Square

While coping with my sickness last month, editing Heidi and Brian’s wedding photos was such a fun and addictive favorite thing for me to do, though it took longer time than I expected. Thanks so much for understanding, Heidi and Brian! Looking at Heidi’s photos, I’m so amazed how beautiful of a bride she turned out to be… what an amazing couple. Each wedding was a unique experience to me, taking Heidi and Brian to the Union Square with the holiday lights up was a highlight! Union Square suits Heidi, her super star charm has drawn everyone’s attention…

Many thanks to Amanda Gall, owner of Romantique Weddings for the amazing design and generous help on the wedding day.

Josselyn and Matt | A beautiful “1920” wedding in the San Francisco City Club

Josselyn and Matt were so excited with their up coming 1920 wedding earlier this year, when they just met me. It’s amazing how fast time goes by, before we realized it, it has come to the end of the year and it was their big day already… and now the 2010 New Year is just around the corner, with such beautiful memories, I think we can call 2009 a thoughtful, beautiful and fruitful year. We’ve made it… with grace and love. Nothing makes us feel better than knowing the most important person in our lives are with us, in our hearts. Thank you Matt and Josselyn, for enduring me the paparazzi on your wedding day. It all turned out beautiful. Hope you had a wonderful time in Australia, and Happy New Year!

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” – Oprah Winfrey

Ashley and Eddie, SEBASTIANI Vineyards & Winery wedding | Sonoma |Thank You For Loving Me…

Ashley and Eddie got married at the beautiful winery Sebastiani Winery. They danced in such loving notes:

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn’t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn’t breathe

Thank you for loving me
You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me…

Best wishes to both of you, my beautiful bride and groom. Your both look so gorgeous … I still remember the moment when Eddie saw Ashley walk down to the isle, you cried… yet I haven’t seen many men being happier…

Speicial thanks to Shannon burns, NV Custom Events for making such a beautiful wedding happen; Barbara Rose from Sebastiani for taking care of us so well; Alex Keys from Thomas Hughes Video for working so closely with me on lighting; and the talented Officiant Marvin Wray from Napa Seventh Day Adventist…

Nicole & Patrick |NVCC | Napa | 8.22.2009

A classic wedding at Napa valley Country Club, Nicole and Patrick’s wedding was so tiffany blue. On the top of the golf course, there was a 360 degree view looking down the entire valley – we were able to take some photos there; although Nicole and Patrick was just married, holding the champagne glasses celebrating – photo session was not as appealing to them :-)

Karen and Sean of course fell in love with this place right away, it turned out that it was such a sweet wedding! Nancy Nerhan, the wedding & event planner at the hotel did every efforts to make sure we had access to the amazing places such as the spa , the mall area. I loved the interior of the hotel, quite antique look. Sean is a musician; we were quite amazed by his performance at the end of the reception…

Kim & Dan – the most intimate and cozy Napa wedding| 5.16.2009

Kim and Dan are the kind of people whom you just cannot stop being so envious of – such a loving couple, living in such a beautiful place, with such a beautiful life ahead of them… Loved hanging out with them for their engagement session, for lunch with Kim, and finally photographing their wedding. It was such a warm day in Napa - it was really 98 degree outside! Dan started his speech by asking: “how many of you have melted?” And I saw many hands raised up. By the way, Dan and his daughter are such beautiful singer! Being a singer myself, I was so blown away. The whole wedding became a Johnson family concert…

Kim planned the whole wedding by herself, with minimal help with me and the catering manager Terry. The reward was obvious – it turned out such a beautiful and intimate wedding! Here are some images to share with you and you just have to agree with me…

Bryan & Shannon | 4.17.2009 |Cavallo Point Wedding | Fort Baker, Sausalito

Bryan got all toned by his big day – 2 months of gym training without dinners! He lost 20 pounds for this perfect day. “Shannon is my biggest motivation”. It just seems like there isn’t anything that Bryan is not willing to do… when I heard that, it motivated me for a day – I didn’t have dinner that evening and went to jogging in the Fort Mason Park… While Bryan was getting ready, he said: “I just cannot find another person than Shannon who’s more perfect for me”… indeed, they have know each other for 12 years, and things happen for a reason – it’s called fate.

In the evening we hiked up to the mountain for the Golden Gate Bridge view, they opened their arms: “who else have such beautiful wedding, with such beautiful view of the Gold Gate Bridge, and such beautiful weather?” They were the happiest couple… At the end, isn’t that all it matters?

Janet and Jose’s Disney wedding at Palace Hotel San Francisco

Another fun wedding at Palace Hotel. Mickey and Minnie was a big role for Janet and Jose’s wedding day… Palace Hotel built a Disney castle cake for them, without even seeing the cake before the wedding, when Janet saw it, she was in tears… isn’t palace great!  I also got the ring shot on Mickey Mouse as well…

They are the funniest couple, so much love, so much fun, so much real happiness and easiness in the air… I was envious….

Marie & Paul | 3.14.2009|St. John Vianney | Lafayette Park Hotel | Walnut Creek California

Anyone can see that there’s so much love between Paul and Marie… here’s Paul’s version of their story:

It was a dark and stormy night in February when I headed over to Ron’s house to relax, watch television and play videogames after a long day at work. When I arrived at Ron’s home, he had by his side, the most beautiful vision with him. Through the course of the night I discovered that Marie was Ron’s cousin and visiting the United States. I was so smooth and suave during the whole encounter, I apparently made no impression on her. In order to take Marie out, I took both of them with me on my annual wine tasting trip to Napa for Strings.

It was in Napa that I mustered the courage to ask her out. So on March 14, 2007 we went to see the movie, “300″. To tell you the truth, Marie thought we were going out as friends. She had no idea I was trying to take her out on a date. Eventually I finally convinced her of my true intentions and I have been the happiest and luckiest man ever since.

Wow – amazing – exactly 2 years later, they were happily married… best wishes to both of you!

Marcela & Chris – St. Patrick’s church, Westin St. Francis San Francisco | 11.22.2008

Marcela and Chris traveled from Portland, Oregon to get married in the beautiful Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. It was an intimate and fun wedding. The ceremony was at St. Patrick’s church. They are such a non-traditional couple and didn’t want any “getting ready” or formal photos, cake cutting or bouquet toss… it was foggy later in the afternoon when we got to the 32nd floor in St. Francis but the room was still surrounded with a beautiful night view of the skyline of San Francisco… Both of them work at Westin Oregon and when I got the ring shot with “The Westin St. Francis” it was so special to them…

Cheng & Xin – San Francisco City Hall Wedding |10.23.2008

Dear Cheng and Xin,

Congratulations to you, and welcome to San Francisco! You put so much effort to plan this trip and this special day. You asked me for opinions of the bouquet, veil and color of xin’s tie… everything turned out amazingly simple, elegant and special. It was such a beautiful day; I hope the good weather here in the bay area helped to end your trip on a good note.

I witnessed you went to the city hall early in the morning, exchanged vows and the moment of “you may kiss the bride” – in a sense, I was the third witness. I drove around the city and showed you many of my favorite places; we laughed, joked around and had good photos… you tried hard to make me skip my meeting that evening and took me out for dinner. After we all sat down, I realized that we were going to have your “wedding banquet” together… the three of us… THANKS for letting me spend all the special moments with you!

You worked so hard even on your wedding day; your cell phone did not stop ringing. We caught great photos in between of your phone calls from work. Good luck on your career too, new graduates from Duke! You are going to have a bright future. starting from Manhattan, New York, is only the beginning of your life journey. There’s much more yet to come.

Best wishes to both of you!
Much Love,
Jasmine

Margaret and Ritchie – our Wrigley wedding in the Bay Area – Church of Nativity, Cypress Hotel Cupertino, Santana Row San Jose 10.25.2008

Two super Chicago Cubs fans Margaret and Ritchie just got married! Earlier this summer we flew to Chicago Wrigley field to get their engagement session done. Their guest book was made with photos of Wrigley field, Chicago Art Institute, Chicago Tribune building, Chicago Theatre, and Chicago skyline. All the guests from the Nation got to see the beautiful Chicago images.

In the limo on the way to the church, Margaret was pretty sure that she was going to cry – later on we learned that actually Ritchie is the one who can be sentimental. Bride maids and groomsmen were well prepared – plenty of tissue handy. The ceremony was at the Church of Nativity and reception was held at Cypress Hotel. While we were taking some photos at Santana Row in San José, boys started to party early…

PS, Margaret and Ritchie’s wedding was just recently featured on San Francisco Style Unveiled.

I Love You, until the end of time…Come What May – Teresa & Ted wedding at Palace Hotel San Francisco |10.18.2008

Palace Hotel Wedding San Francisco.

My dearest friends Ted and Teresa, I still remember the day you came to my studio – it was a pleasant meeting, you loved my art work in my studio and we shared the same taste for music. After that you told me: “we stopped looking after meeting with you – we were confident that we could not find anyone better than you!”

Thank you for letting me spend this beautiful special day with you. It could not have been more perfect. Eight months of hard work, I know, it wasn’t too much time for you to put everything together. Right before your wedding day, you drove all the way from LA, met with all the folks came from afar, still managed to find time to take me out for dinner – I know you must be exhausted. you made this day so beautiful and memorable to family, friends, and us who were also part of your big day.

At the end of the day, I found this letter from you:
Jasmine, Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! We can’t tell you enough how much we love our work and especially, love working with you! We are so lucky to have you as our photographer and I can’t imagine having anyone else. We definitely will be in touch even after all the wedding photos are done. Thank you sooooo much for everything! Teresa & Ted

Best wishes for you, Teresa & Ted! I signed on the very guest book I made for you – hoping this, and all the wedding photos I captured will help to keep all the beautiful memories for you.

Kim and Eli were the most prepared couple I have worked with and the wedding was stunning. I have to say that Kim is such an amazing woman; she planned everything with her hands with great details. You may know their Starbucks story from an earlier post.

Blue Benicia

When I stepped into Nicole’s house the bridesmaids were already there dressed up and greeted me – “you must be Jasmine! We love your photography!”

Nicole and Adam’s wedding was so fun. It was such a young group, full of energy and jokes. They are so in love! Here are some of their wedding photos.

An Indian wedding at Saratoga Country Club

When I arrived at the bride’s getting ready site, I was amazed by the jewelry scattered around the colorful dress. Catherine surely looked truly charming and stunning. In an Indian wedding, the bride is absolutely the center of attention.

It was a very traditional Hindu wedding; many of the guests flew from India to attend the wedding. Here came a white horse! When the groom Siddhartha got on the horse, his father David smiled like a child:”you look like a prince!” It was like a dream come true, not only to Sid, but also to his parents – far away from India, Catherine and sid flew from Boston to get married in the bay area, Saratoga Country Club.

Danielle and Adam’s wedding at Blackhawk Automotive Museum, Danville 8.2.2008

From what I have heard about the Blackhawk Museum it can be challenging to photograph weddings there because of its dark décor. Although I am not a big fan of cars, when Albert and I stepped in the exhibiting hall, we were both in awe. As we stared at the beautiful collection (especially the $12.9 Million dollar car) Albert leaned over and murmured: “I have only 1 million dollars in insurance… We looked at eachother at the same time: “Don’t – Touch – Anything”… It turned out that the Blackhawk Museum became one of my favorite places for weddings!

Danielle and Adam were one of the nicest couples I have photographed. When I got this shot for her, I quickly showed it to her on my camera display, she screamed and said: “I love you Jasmine! Thank you for making me so beautiful! You are so amazing…”

Special thanks for the wedding coordinator, Michey Azda. By the end of the wedding day, he came to me and said: “Jasmine, I have coordinated 350 weddings in my lifetime, and you are one of the best photographers I have ever seen. You are a real talent”. Coming from him that was such a huge compliment. He introduced the best cars in the hall and made it really easy for us to access those cars, without his help we couldn’t possibly get these wonderful shots.

Photographer of the Month… PPGBA

Finally! I can call myself a blogger now… a beginner one. Here we are! One of my recent art work, “Embrace The Wind”, created by one of Serene and Jonathan’s wedding image (May 30th of 2008) has just won Print Of The Month Award at PPGBA print competition.

It was a windy day (as always in San Francisco) After a series of formals with the entire bridal party, she was stretching her arms, as if she was embracing the wind and her new marriage – it was the magic moment when true happiness shined through her face. Thanks PPGBA for giving me this opportunity to share with you of this image.

Here’s the original image. It was printed on oil painting canvas 27×40″.
