Award-winning photographer Jasmine Wang is a well-traveled artist whose mission is to translate human dimension into visual artistry. From covering France for Le Monde, Asia for The Globe and Mail, Canadian Television, The Christian Science Monitor, The Wall Street Journal, or photographing cultural events and book projects for publications such as Randaom House (US), China Review (UK) and De Agostini (Italy), her credentials are impressive. Wedding Photography - weddings touch the romantic spot in Jasmine’s heart that celebrates dreams of love fulfilled. Her wedding albums display lovely tribute to the spirit of marriage unions. She takes time to get to know each couple so that she can portray their unique chemistry. On the day of the wedding, she stays calm and focused even when surrounded by a profusion of anxiety, chaos, and high animation. Like a behind the scenes magician, Jasmine conjures up stunning images through composition of light, shape, and design, creating images that infuse heartfelt elegance within the spontaneity of each moment. Jasmine is a photo storyteller who would feel honored to compose the visual tale of your special day. In 2008, Jasmine received an award of excellence for her work as a wedding photographer (Gold Award of wedding album competition by PPGBA Professional Photographer of the Greater Bay Area, www.ppgba.org). Portrait Photography - In her portrait work, Jasmine Wang believes in the power of presenting one's face as an expression of character. She seeks the shots that highlight the individual’s unique personality and charisma while enhancing one’s God-given beauty. Dance Photography - A former dance student herself, San Francisco photographer Jasmine Wang is fluent in the physical language dancers use to articulate states of emotions. Her educated sense of body lines and kinetic form merge with the dancer’s movements to create photos filled with grace and flowing motion. Travel Photography - Jasmine Wang’s work in travel photography reflects her deep-seated respect for history and culture. She honors each opportunity to document the character and essence of the locations she visits. Like a humble guest invited to glimpse an inner world, she treats each subject with the reverence they deserve. She was born and raised in China, but her work and sense of adventure has taken her to other parts of Asia, Europe, and the United States to capture photos as wells as experiences. She is bilingually fluent in English and Mandarin, multi-culturally aware, and multi-dimensionally educated in creative fields. Not just an expert with a camera, Jasmine is also formally trained in music, dance, and painting. Her diverse schooling, innate talent, and passion for the arts converge to inspire works of imaginative genius. With camera poised, Jasmine is a natural born hunter, not the kind who shoots to kill, but a seeker who captures excellence through the aim of her camera lens. Her ever-alert eyes scan her surroundings in high-speed, high-resolution detail. She has an almost supernatural ability to see and anticipate scenes at different speeds simultaneously: the sudden transition of a mood overlapping other moods in layered sequence; isolated frames suspended in time and space within shifts of movement and expression. Meanwhile, her multiplex mind mixes, matches, and sorts visual elements for photo composition. Jasmine’s artistic perspective honors the energy and essence of her subjects, offering a privileged gaze at a moment within other moments inside the motion of the universe. Though currently based in San Francisco, Jasmine travels to locations worldwide upon clients' requests for destination photography assignments. Jasmine's photography studio is located in the beautiful Marina district in San Francisco, conveniently accessible for her local clients in San Francisco, Marin County, North Bay, the Peninsula, San Jose, South Bay, and East Bay. Her range of expertise includes wedding photography, portrait photography, fashion photography, fine art photography, commercial and corporate photography, dance photography, artistic nude photography, travel photography, and photojournalism. Before opening her photography studio in San Francisco, Jasmine has been commissioned for photography assignments in China, Southeast Asia, Thailand, Tibet, Laos, Paris, Chicago, Illinois, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Jasmine is the photographer to call if you are seeking the highest quality wedding albums, family photographs, portraits, dance photography, fine art photography or photography for your special occasion.

Sheryll & Marlon | Engagement session

I have a deep love for blue ocean and blue sky. Maybe that was the reason I chose to move to San Francisco many years ago? It has been fogy, cold and not so much blue lately, when I see these images they put smile on my face.

Sheryll and Marlon came to meet with me and booked me over a year ago. I loved them from the first sight I saw both of them! it’s been a long time since I have been thinking what the photos will turn out for them and now they are on my blog. I look forward to the big day!

Beth & James Green | Historic Sand Rock Farm |Aptos | I Am the Luckiest

Dearest Beth and James,

Your dream has come true – 6 years ago, it was you, James, whom Beth chose to dance with, at this beautiful event with all the people who loved both of you. You had to play “hard to get” in order to get this most amazing woman. During Thanksgiving of 2009, among all the things that people were thankful for, Beth had the most amazing one – her boyfriend whom she was deeply in love with, finally proposed…

And Beth, you are one of the simplest, humblest, purest and most loving women I have seen. You shared every bit of yourself and gave every bit of love you have to your beloved… when you said with much pride: “I, am the luckiest one who married James!” on your wedding day, your beautiful face lit up and the whole world could not help but falling in love with you too, including me… You both have worked so hard to be together and it was that special day, when you finally danced as husband and wife – for the first time. May you both keep dancing together, for a long lifetime …

xoxoxo…

Safari, Pilanesberg, South Africa

I shared this amazing journey with my beloved couple Sharon and Viresh in South Africa. During this journey, I discovered not only the beautiful scenes in Pilanesburg, Johannesburg and the AMAZING Cape Town, but also the warmest hospitality from Chana/Kara family and the Indian community, and most importantly, the amazing friendship of all the friends I shared this journey with. Many thanks to Tiffany for helping me on luggage and internet; to Sarah & Mark, Brian & Kelly for driving us all around in Cape Town; to Derrick for helping me on lighting and many other chores; to Sneha for finding me the Indian dress; To Neetesh for being such a good host; to Coleen and Tom for loaning props; to Daniel, Eric, Linda and Suling for helping organizing … and most of all, big THANKS to Sharon and Viresh to make all of these happen and sharing a “group honeymoon” with all of us… I’m truly grateful to share such an amazing trip with such amazing people.

I will be posting more photos from the trip…

Heather & Sean | Engagement session | Family Portrait | San Francisco

Heather first met Sean when she was 14. Two young kids were in love – then chased their dreams separately. She showed me a picture of Sean when he was really young, I saw a young blonde handsome half naked dude in the photo. Wow! I yelled out loud. Where did the time go? I looked at them smiling to each other in such peaceful way, then I realized – whatever happened in the past didn’t not matter – what matters is now, they are now together.

Blessings to you, my dear friends… I look forward to capture more beautiful images on your wedding day.

Wendy & Herman | Engagement session |In the mood for Mahjong

Herman watched youtube clips before he proposed – the crime scene was set on the ocean beach close to cliff house where the marathon ends, Wendy was going to run the marathon that day and he was planning to propose right after she reached the destination. Thank god there’s youtube! In a movie clip a guy attempt to propose when the poor girl was totally out of breath after running the marathon, she creamed:”no, not here!!!” uh-oh – that’s a bad idea! Herman recomposed the scene to the beach nearby – rose petals had to be in the picture, gave her some time to breath and rest, then proposed with one knee down – result… Wendy said: “you are finally doing it!”…total success.

It was Wendy first send a love note to Herman during class when they were both in high school, and it was Wendy who also broke up with him. 20 years has past, they completely lost contact. When they somehow reconnect, it was freaky – without meeting each other in person, here are the questions back and forth: “Which high school did you go to?””uh…Mission High…why? “Herman Ma!” “Woo, how do you know my last name?” … so after 20 years, their love story continued…

At the of their engagement session, Herman said to Wendy: you are so beautiful, I would propose again if I didn’t…

Lily & Andreas | Engagement session |San Francisco, Sausalito

Lily and Andreas met each other for the first time over 10 years ago. Under the wrong impression that Andreas was engaged with someone else, every time Lily met Andreas she was wondering where was his significant other…? Not until much later, they realized there wasn’t such a person, hence romance began…

In the movie Julia and Julie, Julia Child asked her husband Paul: “what if you didn’t fall in love with me?” Paul said” but I did…” and here came all the stories happened in Paris and a birth of one of the greatest French cook books in the American history. There are way too many what ifs around us, I don’t know about you, I constantly ask myself the what ifs – some are way too silly, like – what if I never became a photographer… what if I never lived in San Francisco… I started to believe everything happens for a very good reason and meant to be. And like many other things that are meant to be, after all of these years missing each other, Lily and Andreas did fall in love… The wedding is going to be at the beautiful Oceano Hotel at Half Moon Bay, like a fairy tale finally comes true…

I look forward to the big day, Lily and Andreas… xoxo, Jasmine

J & D | Engagement session | Berkeley, Albany, and somewhere on the way in between…

One warm afternoon in Berkeley; I was sitting  in the car while D was driving us around town – I looked (and felt) like a tourist. Suddenly I saw something and randomly screamed: stop, stop please… can I take some photos here? Totally random places. I must have sounded absurd… although it must be hard for J & D to understand why I wanted to photograph them in front of a white wall; they were so patient with me, stopped and posed for me…

Impressionism is coming to town at the end of this month to our favorite DeYoung, it’s time to make a few water lily “Monet like” photos! Albany landfill was one of the coolest places I have ever photographed, thanks J for introducing it to me!

Monique & Raymond |wedding at Bridges Golf Club

Beautiful Monique,

Seven years ago this day, you and Raymond chose to give your hearts to each other… how would you have known what a wonderful decision that would turn out to be? You have been Raymond’s first and last girlfriend, until he proudly called you “my beautiful wife”… In many sense, I truly think you both are the luckiest in the world. There’s no greater gift in the world than sharing a life together, and now you gave this gift to each other. What a privilege to be the first, last and the only one for a life time…

I have seen you cried – when you and Raymond came to meet with me for the first time, one of my photo albums reminded you of the vows you have taken – your cried; when I photographed your engagement session, we relived the nostalgic moment at the City Hall, you cried; on your wedding day at the Bridges, you cried… there’s no greater evidence of love for one to see, so precious, so crystal clear, so beautiful.

Best wishes to both of you,

xoxo, Jasmine

My favorite new albums…

Dear friends,

Today I want to share with you some of my favorite new albums. When DHL delivered them this morning I could hardly wait to see… each time I saw a new album I made for our beautiful couples – I feel soooo excited and anxious to see how my bride and groom will like them. As I have left so much of heart and thoughts into them, I hope you all like what you see…

Jennifer & Eddie | Engagement session |San Francisco, Baker Beach, Treasure Island

Both Eddie and I agree that Jennifer is not only beautiful, but also strong and determined. She made things happen… the photo session was canceled due to weather; we somehow made it work when it stopped raining in the afternoon, although it was windy and freezing at Treasure Island. She was shaking but fearless in the wind… Love, was deeply rooted in her heart, to keep her warm, loving, strong and fearless… it shows so clearly in the photos… a love relationship requires two people to make it happen, and there are always so much more than what we can see on the surface. I was honored to experience such level of love, and was in hope capturing such beautiful connection in my images… thanks for spending this beautiful afternoon with me.

Rudy & Tina |Engagement session | San Francisco

Dear Rudy and Tina,

You two put smile on my face – when I look at your photographs, they way you two look and smile at each other, the way Rudy opens the door for Tina always, the way Tina gently flips Rudy’s shirt collar… there’s so much love cannot be hidden…

25 years… you have been together sharing all the beautiful memories in life. We shared this sunny afternoon together, to you it’s a tiny fragment of time in life, to me is a beautiful experience for such deep, peaceful love – the love you share with each other and people around you…

May many more 25 years to come, Tina & Rudy…

Sharon & Viresh | Engagement session San Francisco

To my dear friends Sharon and Viresh,

I created these images for you, and for my heart. I hope they tell how much I love both of you. You two are so worldly, hard working, cultured, successful, the long list of good quality I see in you can go on and on… If it wasn’t because of your wedding, our life paths might never go cross even though we live only a few blocks away. As young couple as you are, who would expect that you have been more than 50 countries in the world so far? Who would expect one sunny afternoon, both of you appeared in my office, decided to share a journey with me for your wedding in South Africa?

And Sharon, we have shared so many moments in such short period time that I feel I have known you for so long… I see so much love in you, to Viresh, to people around you and to this beautiful world… I hope to share much longer friendship with both of you.

Much love, Jasmine

Bridget and Doug | Wedding at Cavallo Point | Fort Baker

Dear Bridget and Doug,

I have to say that I did feel much of pressure photographing your wedding… a young artist bride as you with a background in film and video and work for the National Geographic Channel …oh my, you must have had very high expectations. Knowing that you loved the photographs I have captured for you, you can’t imagine how much I feel relieved!

This is another Cavallo point wedding I have photographed. You had your reception at the hall with Gregory Colbert’s large format “Ashes and Snow” series… I have always in love with his work and was honored to spend such artistic night with such artistic people. Thanks again for sharing with me for a beautiful night, and best wishes to both of you!

Heidi & Brian |wedding at Marine Memorial Hotel San Francisco, Union Square

While coping with my sickness last month, editing Heidi and Brian’s wedding photos was such a fun and addictive favorite thing for me to do, though it took longer time than I expected. Thanks so much for understanding, Heidi and Brian! Looking at Heidi’s photos, I’m so amazed how beautiful of a bride she turned out to be… what an amazing couple. Each wedding was a unique experience to me, taking Heidi and Brian to the Union Square with the holiday lights up was a highlight! Union Square suits Heidi, her super star charm has drawn everyone’s attention…

Many thanks to Amanda Gall, owner of Romantique Weddings for the amazing design and generous help on the wedding day.

Josselyn and Matt | A beautiful “1920” wedding in the San Francisco City Club

Josselyn and Matt were so excited with their up coming 1920 wedding earlier this year, when they just met me. It’s amazing how fast time goes by, before we realized it, it has come to the end of the year and it was their big day already… and now the 2010 New Year is just around the corner, with such beautiful memories, I think we can call 2009 a thoughtful, beautiful and fruitful year. We’ve made it… with grace and love. Nothing makes us feel better than knowing the most important person in our lives are with us, in our hearts. Thank you Matt and Josselyn, for enduring me the paparazzi on your wedding day. It all turned out beautiful. Hope you had a wonderful time in Australia, and Happy New Year!

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.” – Oprah Winfrey

Monique & Raymond | engagement session

Monique and Raymond were married in the city hall a few months ago. Yet there will be a grandeur wedding and this cute “engagement session” got all of us into the mood… Monique, Raymond and I ended up hanging out in a Chinese restaurant. After we were fed, photo session continued… the restaurant is right in their photos as background, so I know exactly which one we went to despite the fact that I get lost in Chinatown every time. And thanks for the quick bite, Monique and Raymond! I loved spending time with you, driving around, chatting, and photographing.

Ashley and Eddie, SEBASTIANI Vineyards & Winery wedding | Sonoma |Thank You For Loving Me…

Ashley and Eddie got married at the beautiful winery Sebastiani Winery. They danced in such loving notes:

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn’t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn’t breathe

Thank you for loving me
You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me…

Best wishes to both of you, my beautiful bride and groom. Your both look so gorgeous … I still remember the moment when Eddie saw Ashley walk down to the isle, you cried… yet I haven’t seen many men being happier…

Speicial thanks to Shannon burns, NV Custom Events for making such a beautiful wedding happen; Barbara Rose from Sebastiani for taking care of us so well; Alex Keys from Thomas Hughes Video for working so closely with me on lighting; and the talented Officiant Marvin Wray from Napa Seventh Day Adventist…

Nicole & Patrick |NVCC | Napa | 8.22.2009

A classic wedding at Napa valley Country Club, Nicole and Patrick’s wedding was so tiffany blue. On the top of the golf course, there was a 360 degree view looking down the entire valley – we were able to take some photos there; although Nicole and Patrick was just married, holding the champagne glasses celebrating – photo session was not as appealing to them :-)

Here are a few photos that I wanted to share with you – congratulations Meghan and Rich! Your eyes told me the real happiness in them… Thanks for sharing this beautiful day with me – it was a special trip for me.

Cindy & David | Engagement session | San Francisco

Cindy and David, you put smile on my face. You two are so young, energetic, loving, and so much fun. I love how the photos turned out, thanks for sharing the afternoon with me, in one of my favorite part of the worldCindy&david01Cindy&david02Cindy&david04

Cindy&david08Cindy&david06Cindy&david10Cindy&david090709

Wow – my bride looks so hot! Michael and Aundrea | Engagement session |San Francisco

When I saw Aundrea in her beautiful purple dress, I wowed: hey, my bride looks soooo hot! And of course Michael totally agreed with me, with a big smile on his face. Michael is such a considerate person, watching him being so sweet to Aundrea, I sighed, “now I know why Aundrea chose you!”

A day trip to Half Moon Bay, Monterey, Carmel

Tuesday, my buddy photographer Kurty Wong and I decided to go for a day trip for location scouting. Such an amazing day. In the past a couple of years I have done so many road trips in Asia, alone – and I have said so many times “I wish I could share this beautiful scene with others”… it’s a bless to be a photographer that enables me to do so…

Kim & Dan – the most intimate and cozy Napa wedding| 5.16.2009

Kim and Dan are the kind of people whom you just cannot stop being so envious of – such a loving couple, living in such a beautiful place, with such a beautiful life ahead of them… Loved hanging out with them for their engagement session, for lunch with Kim, and finally photographing their wedding. It was such a warm day in Napa - it was really 98 degree outside! Dan started his speech by asking: “how many of you have melted?” And I saw many hands raised up. By the way, Dan and his daughter are such beautiful singer! Being a singer myself, I was so blown away. The whole wedding became a Johnson family concert…

Kim planned the whole wedding by herself, with minimal help with me and the catering manager Terry. The reward was obvious – it turned out such a beautiful and intimate wedding! Here are some images to share with you and you just have to agree with me…

And the slideshow is up click here to view…

Mr. and Mrs. Delgado to be – Rocio and Nick | Engagement session

On the day Nick proposed, he took Rocio to see the show “Teatro ZinZanni”. Nick told Rocio that he got a “small gift” for her, while the whole day he was super nervous and abnormal. Later on, with 2 dozens of roses, all family members present and videotaping, Nick kneeled down with a ring in his hand – how could Rocio resist?

I was like “awwww….”when I heard this – such a romantic scene! Who would say no… !when we were driving in the car on the e session day, Nick drove with one hand and the other hand holding Rocio at the whole time… I was like “awwwww….” again…

Well, the wedding will be at the Kohl Mansion. Will be a collaboration with the wonderful planner and designer Michelle Barrionuevo-Mazzini from MB wedding design. Congratulations to Rocio and Nick, look forward to your big day…

Stefanie & Rudy | Engagement session | Muir woods, Baker beach

I love going to places where I haven’t been and creating unique look photos for my beloved couples. Stephanie and Rudy had their first date at Davy’s Hall, though although we paid for the tickets we were not able to take photos inside – well, we got a good one in the hall way before we got in! Ta-dah… and lots of smile at Muir woods by the big trees…

Stefanie and Rudy are having their wedding at CASA REAL at Ruby Hill. Will work with the wonderful planner Janet Lash from the AVSO events. Will be a beautiful day… look forward to it!

Susana & David |Engagement session

It was in the colorful Mission District, San Francisco, where Susana and David took me to have their engagement session done. We also went to China beach with the Golden Gate Bridge as the back ground, though thought these are far more original.

Thailand – Ayutthaya

I have been thinking of posting these photos for a long time. I know, I know… will try to be better on posting… many of you have been waiting for my tibet photos… they are coming soon…. By the way, some of them were just purchased by the Singapore National Library.

Ayutthaya is only about an hour away from Bangkok by train. It was founded around A.D.1350 by a Prince of U-Thong. It used to be one of the richest cities in Asia by the 1600s, exporting rice, animal skins, ivory, etc. In 1767 the city was completely burned during the war.

Sunny & Barney – “This is how we really are!” | engagement session

Sunny and Barney crack me up! They were one of the couples I “fell in love” with instantly when I met them, so funny… anyhow, on the engagement session day, Barney had to have a few shots before he could get into the mood of love… I could not stop laughing when shooting and editing their photos… every couple is different, and Sunny and Barney are full of fun in a different way… after a while I stopped telling them what to do and the true them came out…

Sunny and Barney made this cool video:

Bryan & Shannon | 4.17.2009 |Cavallo Point Wedding | Fort Baker, Sausalito

Bryan got all toned by his big day – 2 months of gym training without dinners! He lost 20 pounds for this perfect day. “Shannon is my biggest motivation”. It just seems like there isn’t anything that Bryan is not willing to do… when I heard that, it motivated me for a day – I didn’t have dinner that evening and went to jogging in the Fort Mason Park… While Bryan was getting ready, he said: “I just cannot find another person than Shannon who’s more perfect for me”… indeed, they have know each other for 12 years, and things happen for a reason – it’s called fate.

In the evening we hiked up to the mountain for the Golden Gate Bridge view, they opened their arms: “who else have such beautiful wedding, with such beautiful view of the Gold Gate Bridge, and such beautiful weather?” They were the happiest couple… At the end, isn’t that all it matters?

Suzie and Matt – San Francisco Engagement Session

Suzie and Matt are not only the hottest couple, but also have the cutest love story. here is Suzie’s version of it:

East meets west. I traveled across country in search of adventure but little did I know I would meet the love of my life. He was the manager of the building I moved into!! We had a “round 1″ of dating but Matt was not ready for a serious relationship. 10 months went by…..and he hoped it was not too late. After all, he had never stopped thinking about me. When he asked for a chance, I could not say no. He was always my one true love and I knew it. We moved in together 6 months later. On 8/8/08, he proposed in my old apartment where we had first met. He had kept the apartment vacant for months explicitly for that purpose. ;-) We celebrated with champagne on the roof of our buidling overlooking the GG bridge. It’s been blissful ever since…

Kim & Dan Engagement session | Somewhere In San Francisco…

Let it flow and tell you Kim and Dan’s story – As you can see, their love started to brew in Madeleine Chocolate… Kim’s going to have a beautiful song to sing along the photos to tell their love story… will keep you updated on that!

Dan and Kim met on a cold January day while standing in line at the downtown San Francisco patisserie Café Madeleine. Kim had just returned from safari in Botswana, so she was on the lookout for alligators, not litigators. Dan was about to go to trial in Detroit for two months, and was ostensibly taking a lunch break – but turned out to be on the hunt himself.

The next day, they rendezvoused for dinner at Bix, a chic restaurant hidden in a dark alley near the financial district. By the end of their second date, across the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito, Dan had captured Kim’s heart for good.

This is the story of their San Francisco love affair.
